Volunteer at the second annual MoComCon

Volunteer Opportunity: Become a Homework Helper at Silver Spring Library

The Silver Spring Library is looking for dedicated Blazers to help younger students grades K to 8.  Volunteers are needed Thursdays from 6 to 8 pm.  Volunteers will receive SSL hours.  Here is the link to the Montgomery County General Volunteer Registration Form. Please make sure your parents sign this form.

Field trip - Montgomery County Council Teen Town Hall

Earn up to 8 SSL hours! See Ms. Young in the Media Center for a permission slip. Forms are due this Friday 11/17. Space is limited so sign up now. 2:45-3:45 Write letters to Montgomery County Council members and other elected officials/ Prepare to present. 3:45-4:45 Pack sandwiches and toiletries for Progress Place* 4:45-5:30 Pizza dinner and discussion 5:30 Bus to Rockville 6-8 Reception &Teen Town Hall Meeting 8:00 Board bus to return 8:30 Return to MBHS Parents will need to meet students at University Blvd entrance. *We welcome your donations of small travel size soap, shampoo, deodorant, and lotions. Donation box in Media Center. Sandwich ingredients will be provided.

Checkout Policy

Book, magazine, and (most ebooks & audiobooks) can be checked out for three weeks. Overdue notices are sent to the first-period teacher and obligations are entered each quarter.  Please ask your child if they have any overdue materials!

Audiobooks

Many of our core English books are now available in ebook or audio format. Your child should stop into the Media Center to find out what titles are available. One great resource available from home or school is Tumblebook Cloud. Many core English titles are available here. See the media specialist for more help with TumbleBook Cloud.

Audiobooks are available as CDs, digital downloads, and loans from Overdrive and Mackvia.  We have some Loaner Kindles available - Thanks, One Blair PTSA). If students will need to borrow a media center Kindle, their parent or guardian must first sign a form accepting financial responsibility.

We also have many titles on PlayAway (books are preloaded as single-title audiobook onto dedicated loaner mp3 devices).

PSAT - ACT - SAT OR Advanced Placement Tests

Access My Library (Gale)

Have an iPhone? Download free Gale apps from iTunes and Google Play to access Gale Databases and ebooks from your phone! All you need to do is authenticate with your Gale password (check the inside cover of your student planbook or get a password sheet from the Media Center) and you're ready to go.
